One Another — Put on the Spurs!

Day 2240:  Today we are to ‘spur one another on!’

Scripture:  I am to always consider how I may spur one another on toward love and good deeds!  And I should not forsake meeting together with fellow Christ followers, as some are in the habit of doing, but I should encourage one another – all the more as I see the day drawing near!  Hebrews 10:24,25

Thoughts/questions:  Today the focus will be on ‘spurring one another on!’  To spur is to urge someone to try harder and these verses indicate what we are to urge others to do – love and good deeds!

Spurs are most often used in reference to horses and to spur on a horse involves action and the recipient of the ‘spurring’ may not be too appreciative of the process. Therefore, in considering ways to ‘spur’ one another on, the assumption is that we have to take some form of action towards someone in word or deeds, and that action may cause that someone to have to move out of their comfort zone!

I trust that God2me is doing just that for you – urging you to try harder in your walk with Jesus as you live a life of love and good deeds!!!  And we ALL need to be willing to put on the spurs when the need arises among our brothers and sisters in Christ! Sometimes your spurs might be you simply being an example of one continually trying hard in your spiritual life – others will see and try harder as well!  At other times, it might be a word aptly spoken, an email at just the right time, or encouragement over a cup of coffee.  Wherever and whenever, consider ways to spur one another on!

Suggested prayer:  Living God of the universe, help me to always look for ways to spur on my fellow believers . . .

  1. Thank you for your faithfulness to spur us on for these thousands of scripturally applied encouragements. Both love & good works
