The Lord is my . . . Salvation!

Day 2244: Don’t look now but we’re in the second half of August already and some schools are starting . . .

Scripture: Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; Isaiah 12:2a

Thoughts/questions: Yesterday’s post was regarding the present foundation of God being our earthly Shepherd. Today we shift to the future promise of God being our eternal salvation!

Last Sunday, while talking with a friend who just lost his wife to a sudden heart attack, we shared how futile life would be if we were to merely live then simply lie in the ground and that was it. Without hope or an eternal future – just deal with what life has to offer (some good, some bad) and eventually it would all be over.

But Jesus stepped in!!! He brought salvation, eternal life, hope, and a future beyond the grave. A knowing smile on my friend’s face as opposed to a look of finality and despair. What a difference salvation makes!

Another note – that word Clinton made famous during his affairs – just what does ‘is’ mean? In this verse it means what we know it to mean: it is a connecting verb connecting Jehovah God to our salvation! Are there other ways? The Bible doesn’t seem to indicate that option.

Suggested prayer: Dear Jesus, without Your salvation, my life would not be the same. Not today, not yesterday, and certainly not forever. Thank You . . .
