The Lord is my . . . Song!

Day 2258: I think I’ve got Friday right this time – TGIF Thank God I’m Forgiven!

Scripture: The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.  Psalm 118:14

Thoughts/questions: Previous posts have explored the Lord being our strength and salvation, so today’s focus is on the new word – Song!

Humans sing! We all sing, and history reports singing in pretty much every culture. Why? Evolutionists have some problems with why humans developed the art of speech, and song is even more difficult. Animals still can communicate without words, but we humans sing! God has given His creation the ability to alter their emotions or praise Him through song!

So singer, is God your song, or maybe you prefer the music of the 60’s (the best secular music ever by the way), or country western, or any modern or classical form of singing? All of those might be good ways to express ourselves, but God wants to be our song – after all, He created us uniquely to be able to sing and wants us to consider Him our song!

Christian music has come a LONG way during my lifetime and now it crosses all genres of singing. Therefore, God can be our song whatever form we prefer! By praising Him in song, we fulfill both functions of song – we praise The Almighty and we alter whatever mood we were in to one of peace, thankfulness, and praise!

God should be your song; is He?

Suggested prayer: Almighty God, thank You for the gift of singing! May my songs bring praise to You . . .
