Psalms — Psalms 11 – This is Only a Test!

Day 2552: Continuing through Psalms!!!

Scripture: In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain; for, behold, the wicked bend the bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string to shoot in darkness at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain snares; fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup. For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; the upright will behold His face. Psalms 11

Thoughts/questions: Being all-knowing and every where present allows God to continuously watch us. However, how do His eyelids test the sons of men? If God is represented as having eyelids, it makes sense that those eyelids close at times. The test would be what I as a teacher would sometimes do – give the impression I wasn’t watching in attempts to catch the usual suspects.

Examples – the computer won’t tell; those who made the rule won’t catch me; the boss is gone; those who love me won’t ever find out – even God’s eyelids are shut! In these scenarios, what are our behaviors like? Is our integrity the same when God’s eyelids are closed?

Even though we know better and that God even knows the hairs on our head, somehow we still rationalize our choices. If that’s you, it’s time to stop!!!

Suggested prayer: Father God, help me to live in the light . . .
