Christmas — Light and Life!

Day 2606: Love this time of year!!! You can sing/whistle a carol about Jesus anywhere and people seem to like it!!!

Scripture: In Him was life, and that life brought light to humanity. And the light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out. John 1:4, 5

Thoughts/questions: In junior high, we played flag football against a school called, Light and Life. At that time I thought, ‘What a stupid name for a school!’ Now I understand it a bit better!

The carol, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, (which as a kid I sang it as Hark the Hairy Old Angels Sing – not something I’m too proud about!) contains a line stating, “Light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings.”

Light w/no life or life w/no light – both are equally bad. Together, it works well! Even though we live on a lighted earth, Jesus said we are spiritually dead and living in the darkness. But He also, as is summarized in this carol, stated that He came to give us life abundantly and to bring us out of darkness into His marvelous light!

These two Christmas gifts bring His light allowing us to properly function physically and spiritually on our journey on planet earth! And they bring His new life in us, as we are new creatures, born again, and the old things/ways have passed away!

Light and Life to all He brings via Christmas! Not such a bad name for a school after all, and surely something to sing about!

Suggested prayer: Jesus, Your willingness to come to earth has brought me light and life! Thank You, thank You, thank You . . .
