Christmas — Peace on Earth???

Day 2611: Bless the Lord O my soul!

Scripture: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.  Luke 2:14

Thoughts/questions: Please read yesterday’s if you haven’t already – a two day post!

And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said; “For hate is strong, and mocks the song of peace on earth, good-will to men!”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; the Wrong shall fail, the Right prevail, with peace on earth, good-will to men.

Wadsworth understood that if God’s peace meant the absence of conflict, Jesus didn’t bring peace to our very ‘unpeaceful’ world. The peace He brings is first and foremost to those with whom He is pleased. When we do not have peace with God, we do NOT have peace. It begins when our rebellious self submits to The Almighty! This is an individual’s peace, not world peace!

Then we can be at peace with self and our fellow humans! With self because we have forgiveness and no longer have to live in guilt or beat ourselves up because of previous behaviors. Peace with others also now can be attained as we no longer are self absorbed people interacting with other self centered ones. We can think of others as more important than ourselves and therefore live with them in peace!

Yes, peace on earth, but not in the global sense. Christmas brings His peace to YOU!!!

Suggested prayer: Lord Jesus, help me not to be frustrated by the lack of peace in the world, but to focus on having peace in my personal life . . .
