Psalms — Psalm 53 – No God; Fool! Know God; Wisdom!

Day 2623: I’m personally not ready for 2016 to already be over – you?

Scripture: The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God,” they are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; there is no one who does good. God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there is anyone who understands, who seeks after God. Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge, who eat up My people as though they ate bread and have not called upon God? There they were in great fear where no fear had been; for God scattered the bones of him who encamped against you; you put them to shame, because God had rejected them.

Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. Psalm 53

Thoughts/questions: If this Psalm seems familiar, check Psalm 14 as they are very similar! David’s beginning statement in this Psalm has been misused over the years by those whose pride gets in the way of Jesus’ message of love.

Foolishness and wisdom are often compared in Proverbs where it is stated that ‘the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.’ No God – fool; know God – wisdom! However, for most of us reading God2me, the issue is not this extreme as we accept the existence of God.

Our issues are more in line with the second sentence where God looks upon earth for anyone who truly seeks after Him. Could that be a New Year’s resolution? For God to find us because we seek Him!!! (God’s economy of opposites!)

And when God finds us, THEN the excitement begins! The wise still seek Him!!!

Suggested prayer: Almighty God, may I be the person You find as I choose to seek after You . . .
