Thoughts for 2017 — I Care!

Day 2645: Continuing characteristics to focus on in 2017!

Scripture:  Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.  I Peter 5:7

Thoughts/questions: If we are becoming more and more like Christ, then we should also care more and more! Just how can we demonstrate that we care?

Some ideas/thoughts – 1) We are available when people have problems as exemplified in today’s verse. When we know someone truly cares, we feel confident to share with them. Is that true of you? Their sharing will be a confirmation that you’re caring!

2) Every day scroll thru the contact list on your phone and text/call someone you haven’t been in touch with lately and make sure you ask them how they’re doing! 3) Communicate with questions! Questions demonstrate interest – ask away! 4) Make sure you don’t have a case of I-itis! Arthritis and tonsillitis are bad, but I-itis is worse! When you speak, are your sentences filled with I this and I that? Be healed!!!

5 and 6) These are two I use regularly. 5) Ask ‘why!’ Not only will you show you care, you will learn so much about the other person. A simple example: “How was your weekend?” “Great!” Then don’t let that answer be, respond with “Why!” You may be surprised at their answer.

6) Try this: “How are you?” “Fine!” Again, don’t let their answer be, but respond with, “So what is ‘fine’ on a 1 to 10?” I’ve had answers to this range from 2 to 10, so utilizing ‘1 to 10’ shows others that your simple, ‘how are you’ question is much more than a mere shallow question!

Put some of these into action in 2017 and demonstrate that you truly care!

Suggested prayer: Dear Jesus, may I care for others the way You care for me . . .
