Thoughts for 2017 — Passion!

Day 2649: Have a blessed Monday as we continue things to focus on in 2017!

Scripture: Whatever I do, I am to work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23

Thoughts/questions: The excitement of the holidays are over. 2017 routines are settling in. It’s Monday! Maybe some thoughts on passion are just what we need about now. I know I am in need of the truth of today’s verse, as this year has started a bit slow and I’ve been a bit lethargic – lethargic for a Type A anyway!

The dictionary describes passion as ‘barely controllable’, and Nelson Mandela said, “There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

Becoming our best by doing our work heartily for the Lord is a great goal for 2017! The result are not important, as God is a process God. Is our daily process of life outstanding or are we seeking only outstanding results? God doesn’t measure results except as it relates to His plan for our lives!

Yesterday I spoke with a man who is fighting lymphoma and has had exceptional results, but now his red blood cells are acting up. Individual red blood cells don’t have outstanding results if measured alone, but collectively, they are a requirement of life. Ask my friend if those little guys and their small individual results aren’t super important to him today.

Passion! Let’s be passionate about life each day, and NOT get caught up in results but stay passionate in the process. God has given us OUR path! Let us walk that path with passion!

Suggested prayer:  Father God, help me to have a daily focus on living my life heartily for You and You alone . . .
