Today’s Inauguration – Thoughts!

Day 2653: Today a major shift may begin in the U.S.

Scripture: Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.  Romans 13:1

Thoughts/questions: People who support tomorrow’s new president and people who oppose him often use the same line, “God is in control.” It’s hard to know exactly what they are thinking when they say this, but the principle is true as there is no authority except that which God has established.

Has that ‘authority’ always been good for the people they are in authority of? No! God has allowed rulers of all sorts. Starting with King Saul who became king against God wishes as the people of Israel sought a king. God gave them what they wanted, but it was not to their benefit.

Yes, change is on the horizon for the U.S. but what will be the impact of that change – God only knows (the good) and within His control, the results could go either way. Therefore, our attitude should not be one of blind optimism or despair tomorrow. We should have hope, but not merely because of our new president.

His presidency is nothing short of miraculous, and that is certainly grounds for great hope. Let those of us in the U.S. rejoice tomorrow, but may we experience a humble attitude founded only in the plans of The Almighty! We are to always do this: Be still and know that He is God!

Suggested prayer: Father God, humbly we ask You to bless the United States and may we turn to You as a nation and experience a renewal and revival in our land . . .
