Psalms — Psalm 82 – Rescue the Weak and Needy!

Day 2687: A reader has asked fellow God2me readers to pray for his friend, Jacob Warburton. Please pray for his healing, strength, and family. Thank you!

Scripture: God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers. How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah.

Vindicate the weak and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. They do not know nor do they understand; they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

I said, “You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. “Nevertheless you will die like men and fall like any one of the princes.” Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations.   Psalm 82

Thoughts/questions: To many these are words which apply directly to abortion, Vindicate the weak and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy. They might not have been penned to address this topic, but they certainly apply to the taking of those innocent lives.

If we are not in some way trying to rescue them or other innocent people, we must re-evaluate our lives in reference to this part of Psalm 82. May we always support those who are the weakest and most needy amongst us!

Suggested prayer: Father God, please give Jacob a complete healing and allow his family to be at peace. May I always be seeking ways to help the weak and needy . . .
