Psalms — Psalm 84 – The Courts of the Lord!

Day 2689: Just finished partnering with others at Gleanings ( and prepared over 1,000,000 servings of food for the hungry!

Scripture: How lovely are Your dwelling places, O Lord of hosts! My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You.   Selah.

For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!   Excerpts from Psalm 84

Thoughts/questions: The Psalmist relishes the courts of the Lord! For us, those courts are everywhere, as God is now accessible any time and at any place! But because His courts are not a physical building, it is easy to do one of two things.

One would be to just never stop to go there. To know how easily we can find this place of blessing sometimes gives us license to continually put it off, and eventually never experience God’s richest blessings.

The other would be to take full advantage of being in His courts/presence continuously! Practicing the presence of God whenever and wherever!!! May this be your experience! At any time of day or night we can stop and experience the love, joy, and peace of our God and be surrounded by His presence! Sounds good to me!

Suggested prayer: Lord, may my spirit be aware of Your greatness wherever and whenever . . .
