Psalms — Psalm 85 – True Love’s Kiss!

Day 2690: Big Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) golf tournament dinner/auction fundraiser. Pray for a truly great day!

Scripture: Show us Your lovingkindness, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation. I will hear what God the Lord will say; for He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land.

Lovingkindness and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth springs from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. Indeed, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its produce.Righteousness will go before Him and will make His footsteps into a way. Excerpts from Psalm 85

Thoughts/questions: Certain historical events have served to join opposing people or ideologies. For example, the trial of Jesus brought two enemies together – Romans and Jews. And there are many others.

In this Psalm, lovingkindness meets truth and righteousness kisses peace. Maybe they are not true ‘enemies’ as enemies go, but truth isn’t always loving and righteousness isn’t often at peace when evil lurks all around.

BUT someday!!! Yes, someday we will finally understand the truth of God’s love, as now it often appears that there is truth in the question, ‘How could a loving God do that?’ AND on that day, righteousness will be unopposed by evil resulting in complete peace!

Lord, come quickly and let us dwell with You where righteousness kisses peace!

Suggested prayer: Father God, may the hope of heaven bring peace to my spirit today . . .
