God’s Faithfulness!

Day 2702:  May your spiritual rest far exceed the physical ‘rest’ you enjoy each weekend!

Scripture:  And the Lord said to Gideon, “Surely I will be with you and you shall defeat Midian as one man.” Judges 6:16  But Gideon said to the people, “I will not rule over you . . . the Lord shall rule over you.” Judges 8:23     But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she looks good to me!” Judges 14:3c  Then Samson called to the Lord and said, “O Lord God, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God. Judges 16:28a

Thoughts/questions:  God’s faithfulness extends to all. In the case of Gideon and Daniel, He was faithful to a weak man, Gideon, whom He made mighty; and to a mighty man, Samson, who became weak by his sin. At the end of their lives, both had learned to depend on God’s provision and Lordship, but each took a different path!

Gideon was a fearful and reluctant leader who continued to be reluctant, but lost his fear!  It was only when God showed him miracles that he confidently led 300 troops against an army ‘as numerous as locusts’ and showed personal strength – BUT he recognized who really brought all of this about and refused to rule over Israel, instead telling them that Jehovah should always be their ruler!

Samson’s story is well known. Exactly the opposite of the young Gideon, Samson was a powerful man who had earned the respect of all. However, his eyes went from the vertical to the horizontal and twice he was attracted to women who ruined his life. However, like Gideon, God was faithful and fulfilled His plan through Samson!

If you are mighty, depend on God. If you are weak, depend on God. You will find Him faithful when your reliance is completely upon Him!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Almighty God, may I never depend upon myself, but always rely on You . . .
