Psalms — Psalm 107:1-22 – Give Thanks!

Day 2728: May the words of my mouth be acceptable in Your sight!

Scripture:  Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! They (Israel) wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; they found no city to dwell in. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them declare His works with rejoicing.  Excerpts from Psalm 107:1-22

Thoughts/questions: Two uses of our words: 1) To give thanks! Repeated over and over in this Psalm, the injunction is clear – God is good and has done wondrous works; therefore, the expected response is to give thanks! Makes sense to me.

2) To say so! I’ve been to a ‘say so’ meeting in which the redeemed of the Lord share what God has done for them! Every day is a chance to ‘say so’ and not keep our mouths shut when we have the chance to speak regarding what God has done!

Give thanks and ‘say so’ – 2 great ways to speak!!!

Suggested Prayer: Living God, You have given me a mouth to speak; help me to use it wisely . . .
