Psalms — Psalm 114 – This Ain’t Disney!

Day 2737: Have a beautiful, restful, and blessed Spring weekend!

Scripture:  When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language, Judah became His sanctuary, and Israel His dominion. The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back. The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs.

What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back? O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, Who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.  Psalm 114

Thoughts/questions: Mother Nature – currently, nature has been personified as if it were a benevolent being with emotions and creative power. Disney studios has a history of doing this effectively for our movie going entertainment; however, this world is not a Disney movie set!

Nature was created by God and Mother Nature is a resulting creation of man. God causes the sea to flee; the river to turn back; mountains to expand and erode; and brought fountains of water from a rock. And that’s just a small sample found in this Psalm.

In sports we try very hard to attribute statistics to the appropriate player. It’s important to give credit where credit is due! How are you doing with this? Giving God the credit with your words for the events within nature; staying silent; or giving credit to Mother Nature? Let’s always give credit to Whom it is due!

Suggested Prayer: Creator God, may I never attribute to anyone else what Your hand hath done . . .
