Psalms — Psalm 126 – Mouths Filled w/Laughter!

Day 2789: Don’t look now, but half of 2017 is almost gone . . .

Scripture: When the Lord brought back the captive ones of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.

Restore our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.  Psalm 126

Thoughts/questions: When in captivity, I’m sure there wasn’t much laughter or joyful shouting. As people, we usually respond to our immediate circumstances, but God has more for us! According to 2 Corinthians 4: 17-18For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

So, what are you fixing your eyes on today? Your eternal glory or your present situation whether that be good or bad? Want a life filled with laughter and joyful shouting, consistently fix your spiritual eyes on what is unseen – eternity!

Suggested prayer: Father God, life is often very hard. Help me to always remember that my home is in heaven . . .
