Psalms — Psalm 133 – Let Us Be As One!

Day 2803: Mid summer already! Enjoy, as it soon will be over!!!

Scripture: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes.

It is like the dew of Hermon coming down upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forever. Psalm 133

Thoughts/questions: In George McDonald’s excellent book, ‘The Highlander’s Last Song,’ a character is asked what the most important word in the English language is. I briefly stopped reading and considered a few possible answers, then read on. The response was surprising – “One!”

While not as dramatic as world peace, when I pondered that response I realized how appropriate it was. When a person or group of people are ‘one,’ that self or group unity leads to peace, strength, maximization and so much more.

We probably ALL want to be at one within ourselves rather than warring within our members. And if we are involved in a group or team, being at one is possibly the highest goal the group could achieve.

And for God, how pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to dwell together in unity – to be ONE! Let’s have this goal – to be at one with ourselves, our God, our family, and any other group we might be part of!

Suggested prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, work in my life so that I bring peace and unity wherever I go . . .
