Luke — Similar Expectations! Similar Behaviors???

Day 3099: Happy Birthday to the US of A. May you stand strong for freedom and religious liberty!

Scripture: So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to Him: “Lord, don’t trouble Yourself, for I do not deserve to have You come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” Luke 7:6-8

Thoughts/questions: What if our children treated us the same way we treat God? Would we be happy and satisfied parents, or ??? Like God and the centurion in these verses, we are also in a position of authority when/if we are parents. We have certain expectations of our children as the centurion had with his soldiers and God also does with us.

Although soldiers and servants have little choice regarding their obedience, we and our children are free moral agents choosing our actions. So again, the initial question – what if our children chose to treat us as we treat God? What type of a child of God are we?

May we not do anything less as God’s children than we expect of our own!

Suggested Prayer: Almighty Father, may I be an obedient member of Your family . . .
