Luke — Scary Words!

Day 3122: Definitely hug a family member or two today!

Scripture:  Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. Luke 12:1-3

Thoughts/questions: Quite a crowd gathered around Jesus, but maybe after these words of His, the next crowd wouldn’t have to worry about being trampled.

Everything will come to light? Everything? Yep, that’s what He said! As a threat? To control us? Just maybe His desire was for His followers to lead consistent lives of integrity 24/7. What you see is what you get no matter the circumstances – that was the plan. How’s the plan working out? I’m not quite ready for the nothing concealed bit. You probably aren’t either.

This standard of perfection will never be met, but we should be approaching it! Every aspect of our lives should be increasingly without hypocrisy. Not perfect, but definitely headed in the right direction – that’s our goal. How are you doing?

Suggested Prayer: Lord God, thank You for forgiving me . . .
