Luke — The Great Equalizer!

Day 3128: Treat your Christian brothers and sisters well – after all, we’ll be living together for eternity! Scary thought for some . . .

Scripture: Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” Luke 13:1-5

Thoughts/questions: Those whom Jesus was talking to probably would have answered ‘yes’ to both questions. Like we often do, they ranked certain sins as worse than others. And we tend to observe a bad situation and hint that the people involved probably deserved just that. In general, we tend to find the ‘different’ in others and make that difference a negative thing!

Jesus calls any sin, sin. No ranking from not so bad to worst ever. No ‘bad people, you’re getting what you deserve. No, He takes us from all that and puts us all on the same plain! The Great Equalizer. Good or bad, rich or poor, male or female – we ALL have sin in our lives and need to repent!

Yes, WE ALL NEED TO REPENT!!! Jesus did not die to make bad people better; He gave His life to save sinners like you and me!

Suggested Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You helping us realize that we all need what You’ve provided for us . . .
