Luke — Like a Little Child!

Day 3146: The Book of Life is written one day at a time!

Scripture:  People were also bringing babies to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Luke 18:15-17

Thoughts/questions: The little song, ‘Jesus Loves the Little Children’ must have had these verses as it’s source. Two thoughts: 1) I’ve seen famous athletes walk to little kids and give them a high five or sign something. And I’ve seen others just walk right on by. How we interact with the little ones says a lot about our character! Remember, it’s a sin to drive by a kid’s lemonade stand – well maybe not a sin, but close! I’m sure Jesus would stop! So should we!

2) Receive the kingdom of God like a little child! A child cannot make it thru life without eventually trusting an adult to take care of them. Some are pretty independent, but they are ultimately dependent. So we are to be as well. Come to God with a spirit of dependency, while trusting Him to take care of us.

Sometimes we adults are pretty independent as well, and we can actually function on our own. But that is NOT God’s plan for us. Be childlike; trust; be dependent on Him to be there for you in all circumstances – this is a partnership; we aren’t designed to make it on our own!

Suggested Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to always be dependent on You . . .
