Luke — An Amazing Savior!

Day 3148: Headed to LA to watch USC play football today (Sat.)

Scripture:  As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.” Luke 19:41-44

Thoughts/questions: Jesus is truly amazing! 2 things stand out in these verses: 1) Compassion – the actions of many Jewish people of that time might have called for retaliation or retribution. However, Jesus wept. He could of said ‘vengeance is mine’ or ‘God’s chosen people are again getting what they deserve’ but instead, He wept! What a compassionate Savior. May we do the same!

2) He is God! No mere man could make a specific prophecy like that during a time in which Jerusalem was a thriving metropolis. However, He IS God!

A compassionate God who is our Savior! Amazing! May our love for Him grow each day!

Suggested Prayer: Lord Jesus, words can’t describe how wonderful You are . . .
