Luke — It’s More Than Money!

Day 3151: God is God; we are not!

Scripture:  As Jesus looked up, He saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” He said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Luke 21:1-4

Thoughts/questions: Nike has just come up with a new marketing slogan that is somewhat controversial because of whose photo is one the campaign ads. Their ad is ‘Believe in something; even if that means sacrificing everything.’

Jesus was way ahead of them as was this poor widow. Her belief was that God would take care of her, so she sacrificed every bit of money she had! Her sacrifice was financial, what’s yours?

Jesus believed in us so much that He sacrificed Himself! He asks us to respond in kind. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about money, but our belief in Jesus should result in some form of sacrifice. Again, what’s yours?

Suggested Prayer: Lord Jesus, may my life always be a loving sacrifice in response to all You’ve done for me . . .
