Luke — In Remembrance of Him!

Day 3153: It’s FRIDAY; Sunday’s comin’ – one of my favorite sermons!

Scripture:  After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”  Luke 22:17-19

Thoughts/questions: Two things – the first is that I never really noticed that Jesus gave thanks before taking the cup and bread. Thanks for what I wonder? Yes, it was the Last Supper, but I think they had more to eat and drink than merely bread and wine.

So Jesus, knowing the full story of what was to come in the next few days and the impact of those days on the world, GAVE THANKS! Do we? No matter what, can we? I think so!

Second – certainly one of the most meaningful parts of my experiences as a Christ follower is taking communion. Quietly reflecting on Jesus, being thankful, praising a sacrificial Savior – it touches my soul deeply. Thank You Jesus for not only sacrificing Yourself for me, but for also instituting communion even though the first one reminded You of the pain that lie ahead. What a wonderful Savior is He!!!

Suggested Prayer: Dear Jesus, words cannot express how awesome You are . . .
