James — Great Examples of Faith!

Day 3186: Lord willing, headed home from our Northeast U.S. trip today!

Scripture:  It is important for me to remember that Abraham demonstrated real faith by his works when he was willing to offer his son Isaac on the altar.  So his active faith was revealed by his obedience to God and as a result of doing what God told him, his faith was made complete.  By his obedience, the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness,” and he was even called God’s friend.  This example illustrates that I am justified by my works and not by faith alone.  Rahab, the prostitute, is also a good example of faith that works.  She was justified by her works when she hid the messengers and sent them away safely.  For just as my body would be dead without a spirit; so also, my faith is dead if it does not result in works.  James 2:21-26

Thoughts/questions:  Our good works are also the result of true faith. Always remember that God is more concerned with why we do what we do than what we do; therefore, drink deeply from His well of love, and that love will flow through you; seek His help and He will show you ways to help others; worship your Creator and He will overflow your heart with praise for His creation; have faith in Him and He will free you from self-absorption so that you can understand the needs of others; have confidence in the God of the Universe and let Him guide your daily thoughts and actions.

Our ‘works’ will then selflessly flow from one who focuses on the thoughts listed above.

Suggested prayer:  Lord, help my works to flow freely from a life filled with gratitude and praise .  .  .
