James — Prayer of Faith!?

Day 3201:  I trust the end of James will continue to challenge you in your walk with God.

James: The prayer offered in faith will restore me and the Lord will raise me up.  If I have committed sins, they will be forgiven. Therefore, I need to confess my sins to others and pray for others so that I may be healed.  James 5:15, 16

Thoughts/questions:  Some attack those who are not restored or healed after much prayer and use the phrase ‘prayer offered in faith’.  Their accusation is that if the person had true faith, God would have answered their prayers. The resulting carnage is people who no longer trust God or struggle to find ‘true’ faith.

God does tell us to pray with complete faith in Him, and I believe the 3 friends of Daniel who were thrown into the furnace of fire prayed this ‘prayer of faith’ accurately. They said that they knew God was powerful enough to deliver them, but if He didn’t, they still would not disobey Him. Their prayer recognized His power AND trusted God to answer it in the best way – His.

Therefore, I need to confess my sins to others: Having people close enough that we can share our innermost needs is a tremendous blessing and by exposing our weaknesses to them, we bond closer to each other. However, when confessing this way becomes mandatory and we have to confess to a certain person, we may have lost sight of the purpose of confessing. We HAVE to confess our sins to God for His forgiveness (I John 1:9) and any further confession is more about our relationships with humans than with God.

Request of God and confess to Him – the way to daily live!!!

Suggested prayer: Lord Almighty, please don’t give me what I want, but what You know is for my best . . .
