Luke — Things They Were a Changin’

Day 3206: Elections are over in the U.S. and amazingly, God is still on His throne . . .(and political ads are over!)

Scripture: When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. Luke 24:9, 10

Thoughts/questions: For me, it is hard to relate to cultures or people groups who discriminate radically against those of a differing race, gender, belief, etc. However, history is filled with incidences such as these, and our current world hasn’t rid itself of all of the remnants of this type behavior.

In Jesus’ time, the status, wealth, freedoms and more of women did not measure up to their male counterparts. However, with Jesus, things began to change. In these verses, it was this at that time considered lower class of people who first proclaimed the news of Jesus’ resurrection. And consistent with the times, they were not taken seriously.

But the point is this: God chose women to relay the most important news which ever happened. His recognition of women for this role immediately elevated them! An amendment wasn’t needed nor a special election . . . God began to set the record straight! In His eyes, we are equal, as we ALL have the same heart!

Thankfully, the living God of the universe loves us ALL the same! Do we?

Suggested Prayer: Father God, Your awesome love knows no boundaries. Thank You . . .
