Luke — Amazing!

Day 3209: May your weekend be a restful one!

Scripture: They (the disciples) were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at My hands and My feet. It is I myself! Touch Me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, He asked them, Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, and He took it and ate it in their presence.  Luke 24:37-42

Thoughts/questions: Jesus, the living God of the universe, using the natural to explain the supernatural again! He could have used more miracles or have given an exegesis from the Old Testament regarding the Messiah; however, He chose to make it SIMPLE!

They couldn’t comprehend what they saw; He explained it to them verbally; then showed them His hands and feet and asked them to touch Him physically; and they still couldn’t believe what they had seen and touched. So He got frustrated and angry – no! He simply went to a level they would understand – if He ate some fish in front of them, then they would KNOW that He wasn’t a ghost when the food disappeared!

Amazing! Can we follow His example? We don’t have to feel unworthy to intellectually explain Jesus! We can just keep our message simple; tell others and then show them how God has changed our lives; and let His Spirit move in their hearts and minds!

Suggested Prayer: Lord Jesus, may I always follow Your example . . .
