Luke — Jesus is Back Where He Belongs!

Day 3213: We’ve reached the end of Luke. Quite a Gospel!

Scripture: When He had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.  Luke 24:50-53

Thoughts/questions: Homecomings – usually a very good thing! There were two sets returning home that day. Jesus and some of His followers. Although only one is reported to have returned with great joy, I’m absolutely sure Jesus did too!

And what a homecoming Jesus must have had! Back where He belonged. The homecoming of all homecomings! The sorrow of when He humbled Himself to come to earth, is now replaced with His mission accomplished and a reuniting of the Trinity never to be separated to that extent ever again!

Jesus is now back to His rightful position. No longer does He ever have to consider what previously lay ahead of Him – the Passion Week and the sacrifice He was to make. Now, the fruits of His labor will be the future events He is blessed to consider!

The end of Luke is the beginning of Jesus’ preparations for us, as we also will go to where we belong. Another homecoming! This time for us! A true day of joy!

Suggested Prayer: Lord Jesus, welcome home! And I can’t wait for You to welcome me home as well . . .
