Psalms — Psalm 144 – Why Bother?

Day 2293: Another weekend for fun and worship!

Scripture:  Blessed be the Lord, my rock, my lovingkindness and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and He in Whom I take refuge.

O Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You think of him? Man is like a mere breath; his days are like a passing shadow. Bow Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke. Flash forth lightning and scatter them; send out Your arrows and confuse them.

Stretch forth Your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hand of aliens whose mouths speak deceit.

Rescue me and deliver me out of the hand of aliens, whose mouth speaks deceit and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. How blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!   Excerpts from Psalm 144

Thoughts/questions: With God being an eternal Alpha and Omega, holy, all-powerful, everywhere present and more, mankind doesn’t even come close to measuring up to Him. So why does He bother with us simple creatures? For example, He could easily remove me and have almost 8 billion others to concern Himself with!

But not only does He truly love us, He is our rock, lovingkindness, fortress, stronghold, deliverer, shield, and the one in Whom we can take refuge! It’s no wonder the Psalmist exclaims,  How blessed are the people whose God is the Lord! May we state the same!

Suggested Prayer: Lord Almighty, truly I am blessed with a God like You . . .
