About God2Me

God2me has posted new devotionals daily since Sept. 25, 2009 with a variety of devotional topics and with 11 books of the Bible paraphrased in the first person. This paraphrase was based on the powerful verse, Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

After over 1500 posts, it is time for a change. Daily posts based on first person scripture will remain, but the length of each day will be reduced. We live in a very time oriented society and the 400 word average of the previous posts will be reduced to accommodate that change! The focus will be more on God’s words than mine – what a concept!!!

God2me has reached over 100 countries over these years and there has never been a push for following; however, now I will begin to look to social media as an avenue to bring first person scripture to as many as possible. My prayer is that you will find the shortened format a positive step and that God2me can bless many more readers in the coming year! Thank you for sharing your spiritual journey with me and please leave comments – I love to hear from you!

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; and may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you His peace!

  1. I love the power of the lightening bolts against the dark background…..a beautiful picture of God’s revelation into our minds through His Word! It looks great and I can’t wait for you to get started. Way to go big guy!

  2. You have been a true friend for over 30 years and I remember your sharing the gospel in the 1st person format about 30 years ago. Between the inclusion of excitement (speed reading the scriptures out loud with authority–coach like, I’d say) and inserting appropriate pronouns (I, me) and the name Larry, in place of you or they and someone else’s name, you inspired me to read the Bible with significantly more personal application. I can think of no better way to feel God’s presence, love, and forgiveness than to know that He loves Rob as a result. THANKS.

This road trip should rock!!! Happy birthday!!

  3. Simply amazing that Michael caught this lightening in a photo. God is AWESOME!

  4. Keep up your writing Larry. Today’s message melds beautifully with some awesome truth I heard from Jill Briscoe yesterday:

I AM means: I will be all that you need when you need Me to be all that you need.

It may sound a little awkward the first time you read it, but repeat it a few times. It soaks waaayyyy down deep. He is all that we need, even when we are distracted by our worries and may forget that He is all that we need. This is a truth to write down and keep right in front of us!

    • Rob, hi and thanx for the kind words of encouragement – I need it. Not being a professional blogger, I’m hitting reply and writing you – What happens when I do this??? Do you get it in your email or ?????? Let me know, your brother, Larry

  5. Larry,
Just a note to give you kudos for the site. Can’t say as I have made it every day, but have thoroughly enjoyed those that I have. Thanks so much for all of the effort and good works on your part. Take care and God Bless! See you at NLCC, I am sure.

  6. larry! i am finally viewing your GOD2ME and love it! it is a blessing….so glad it will come to my email every day!
i’m going to tell my family about it too…

so glad what the LORD is doing in your life…and you sharing with us!:)
    tricia:)

  7. Are you 100% certain that the Bible is the word of God?

    • I never know where these replies go, so I did reply this in an email and hope one of these two get to ‘phaariz’

Good evening! This could be fairly long. Yes, as much as anyone can be 100% sure of anything, I really believe that the Bible is God’s word primarily for 3 reasons – the past, present, and future. First though, there has to be a God to believe in and most seem to agree there is some form of higher power. Then that higher power had to want to communicate to its creation in a natural way, as if it only used supernatural means of communication, everyone would believe so there would not be anyone not accepting that higher power. Only communicating through the natural would give the created beings who have free will the option of believing or not – true free will.

So if one accepts the above, then God would communicate through the written/spoken word of humans as that is our way of doing most of our communicating. So, people would speak and then write communications from God. Well, there are many of those, so why do I believe the Bible is that means of the true God’s communication to men – past, present, future.

The past – archeology has literally dug up Bible proofs. From proofs of existing cultures thought to never exist to proofs of the specific copying of Scriptures over the years in the Dead Sea Scrolls. By exploring the past, a book that has so much history would be proven true or false, and so far, the past is proving the Bible to be true. Is it God’s word – still a question of faith, but a TON of evidence from the past are proofs its veracity – strong hint to it being God’s word!

The present – talk to a committed Christ follower about how the words in the Bible/Jesus have changed their lives. No one can argue with that personal testimony of change. Extreme changes to small, they all credit the God of the Bible as being their source of change/healing/difference! I can’t take credit for the changes God has made in my life – from being completely selfish to loving and caring for others, from hot tempered to peaceful, from many things to much better things and my testimony is mild compared to that of so many others. Personal experience alone cannot be a proof of the Bible being God’s word, but they are another strong indication from our Creator that He knows our frame and how to make us complete in Him!

The future – whether that be in prophecy already fulfilled, claims made now proven by science, or prophecies we see currently being fulfilled, this book KNOWS what it is talking about. Stating the oceans have currents in a world that knew nothing of them was ???? but now we know that those words are true! Stating ALL of the things about a coming Messiah fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth – astronomical odds against that happening, but it did. Israel becoming a nation and a world once again focused around it and the Middle East – who would have thought that 100 years ago, but now we see Biblical prophecy coming to pass right before our eyes. Again, is that enough – no, but . . .

Now put all 3 of those together, add faith – necessary NO MATTER WHAT one chooses to believe, and the evidence for the Bible being God’s word is incredible. I choose to believe it with 100% of what I’ve got, so the short answer is ‘yes’, and the above answer is the long one.

I hope this makes my thinking clear to you! By the way, who are you? if you don’t mind sharing!

I’m glad you asked, and I hope you still are!!! His, Larry

      • Sholam Alay kum Larry,

I greet you the same was as Jesus (peace be upon him) greeted in Hebrew (in Luke 24:36).

It is so good to know of your relationship and devotedness towards God in the biggest monotheistic religion on Earth, which is Christianity.

My name is Abdulla Faris, from the Maldives. I spotted you while searching for the word ”God”.

We both have so much in common. We know that God has sent his message to the humanity from the beginning of our existence, through great messengers. We believe that God sent Books and Miracles to inform us of the truth through these messengers. Some of the Books were Suhf Ibrahim for Abraham, Torah (Thauraath: Meaning: Law) for Moses, Psalms (Zaboor: Meaning: Pieces) for David, Gospel (Injeel: Meaning: Good news) for Jesus, and Quran for Muhammad (Peace be upon them all).

The Bible today is a combination of Torah, Psalms and the Gospel. We Muslims believe that the books in the Bible are not in its original form today. Catholic and the Protestant churches still follow the Bibles based on the Greek and Latin translations. The original Gospel was recorded in the Aramaic language. Truth from God has been mixed with various writings of other scholars of that time. The complete Bible, i.e. the Old Testament and the New Testament put together, contains 73 books. However, the Protestant Bible i.e. the King James Version contains only 66 books as they consider 7 books of the Old Testament to be apocrypha, i.e. of doubtful authority. Therefore the Old Testament of the Catholics contains 46 books and that of the Protestants, 39 books. However the New Testament of both these sects contains 27 books. Which version of the Bible do you believe to be from God?

Only problems we have are that we do not believe Jesus to be (a part, form or a partner with) God. Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus say to “Worship me or my Mother as Gods beside God”. We believe God is Almighty and One and Only. And we believe that Jesus is one of the greatest messengers of God, as was Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Muhammad (Peace be upon them all). The coming of our prophet (Peace be upon him) is mentioned in different places of the Bible in the new testament as well as the old (Deutoronomy 18:19, John 14:16, 15:26, 16:7, 16:12-14,…).

“And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.” (Book of Isaiah Chapter 29 Verse 12)
When Archangel Gabrail commanded Muhammad (Peace be upon him) by saying Iqra – “Read”, he replied, “I am not learned”. (Sahih Bukhari Book 1 Hadith 3)

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me”. (Gospel of John Chapter 16, Verse 12 to 14)

I am not against you nor am I here to attack your faith. Please do not be offended, this reply was not meant for that purpose, but to introduce you to the way of Islam. We believe that through a succession of messengers God sent to Humanity, Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is the last and final messenger that God has sent. God sent him the Quran as a guidance for Humanity.

Islam comes from the root word “Salaam” which means Peace. It also means submitting one’s will to Allah (swt). Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one’s will to the will of God.

May God provide you Guidance and Hidhaayah
